An initial application, consisting of a completed application form for either Ordinary Member or Accredited Member status.
The applicant will be required to make a detailed submission, describing its distance programme and how it meets NCEA standards. Samples of brochures, prospectuses and other publicity or promotional literature may be required. Applicants may also be requested to provide samples of texts and other tuition materials.
Once the external review is completed, the review report is submitted to the NCEA Secretariat which distributes it to the Review Committee of the NCEA Board. The Review Committee produces an analysis of the report and a recommendation to the Board.

Review reports, as well as the analysis and recommendation(s) by the Review Committee, are examined by the Board of NCEA, which meets six times a year. The Board makes its decision in the light of the available evidence gathered in the external review report on the agency’s conformity with the membership criteria.
Clarification of issues arising from the review, including possible evaluation of courses by a specialist, and onsite inspection by designated assessors, if required by NCEA.
Once the application is accepted, the annual membership fee is invoiced.

If problems arise, our officers and assessors will try to work with the applicant to aid it reach the required standard.
